Tabernacle EMS
Groundbreaking
Tabernacle, NJ, 25 February 2011 – Tabernacle Township today celebrated
the Groundbreaking for a new 13,000 SF facility to house their municipal
Rescue Squad and Emergency Management Services.
Tabernacle Mayor Kim Brown welcomed the crowd of 50 by reminding them
that the project, “has been made possible by a lot of hard work over the
course of more than nine years”. She used the opportunity to announce a
community Volunteer Fair on 11 June. “In order to have a successful
community, you need a large base of volunteers, and we are extremely
fortunate in Tabernacle to have such a broad base of volunteers.”
George Jackson III, Chief of the Tabernacle Rescue Squad, explained the
history for the new facility. “This building is for the whole community
of Tabernacle,” he said.
Architect Scott Charles England, AIA, is not only the
Principal-in-Charge of this project for RYEBREAD Architects, but a
resident of Tabernacle. “I applaud the Mayor and Township Committee, who
recognized the need to better serve our residents, and followed through
in their support of this facility. Our Rescue Volunteers and Emergency
Management team deserve a first-rate facility to better serve us all.”
Attending the Groundbreaking were representatives of the Tabernacle
Township Committee & Administration, Rescue Squad & Emergency
Management, Board of Education, RYEBREAD Architects, Guzzi Civil
Engineers, and Newport Construction, General Contractor for the project.
The new Tabernacle Emergency Services Building was approved by Township
voters in a special referendum last November. Bids came in under budget,
and construction is expected to take twelve months
